Developmental & Psychological Evaluations
Our team of supervising clinical psychologists–with over 50 years combined experience–provide developmental testing and insight about your child’s unique brain. Many people seek testing to understand why they experience the world differently—socially, emotionally, or in how they process sensory input or information. A diagnosis can explain long-standing feelings of being “different” or misunderstood. Getting tested can help a person reframe past struggles—not as personal failures, but as differences that weren’t recognized or supported. A diagnosis can be a powerful tool for self-advocacy and personal growth. It gives language to experiences and helps individuals explain their needs to others.
Because people learn, think, and interact with the world in many different ways, assessment can provide parents and guardians insight into how to best support their child–whether thats support with social communication or strategies to help them focus or learn in their own way. Children who learn differently are often incredibly creative and also have valuable strengths like deep focus, honesty, or unique problem-solving skills.
We all grow and learn differently, and when those differences impact speech and language, motor skills, learning, or daily activities, intervention and support can help a child to grow and thrive at their own rhythm. These learners are often creative and insightful, and may just need different tools, time, or strategies to succeed.
A psychological evaluation can also open access to resources for children in their learning environment. Brave’s clinical team provides services through Clinical Psychologists and their trainees to increase access to services in our community.
