Tracey Ward, PhD, Clinical Director and Founder

Dr. Ward specializes in treating children with selective mutism and has trained extensively in both Seattle and Chicago with leading experts in the field, co-developed a Selective Mutism treatment group at the Seattle Children’s Hospital, led intensive treatment sessions and camps, and provided outpatient therapy. Dr. Ward presents frequently at conferences, schools and community organizations both locally and nationally in understanding selective mutism. Dr. Ward has a true passion for working with children with selective mutism. She is the director of the Brave Explorers Camp and operates her own clinic, Brave Seattle. She primarily sees children with selective mutism, anxiety and OCD.

Phylly Bland, MS, LMFT-A

Phylly received her Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Seattle University. Phylly primarily leads the parent training and individual parent support in Brave Seattle. She is trained on both PCIT-SM and other exposure based modalities, while offering a unique “adult” perspective to our clinic. She is committed to helping adult individuals and couples find deeper understanding, connection, and peace in their lives. She work with adults on anxiety, overwhelm, loneliness, relationship issues, conflict, life changes and transitions, dating, parenting, friendship, identity work, and more. She focuses on first identifying and communicating emotional experiences; and then tracking and disrupting patterns that occur individually and in relationships. Phylly believes in collaborating side by side to define and work toward goals together.

Her systemic training as a marriage and family therapist means that she seeks to understand a holistic picture of you and your life. She focus more on function and context than on “dysfunction” or viewing the individual as the “problem”.

She takes her work and with clients seriously and tends to push clients outside of their comfort zone because she cares deeply about goals and progress.

If you are ready to make changes in your life to positively effect your relationship to self and those around you; let’s get started!
